Subtraction Dress

As part of a pattern cutting technique, we had a lecture from Julian Roberts who uses the subtraction technique to create his collections. It was interesting to watch him make his own subtraction dress and was fascinating to see the outcome.

For my own design, I used my printed fabric which I had designed in our first assignment but firstly I made a quarter scale subtraction dress for practice. The mini subtraction dress was so cute when it was finished!! Below are the images I took throughout both processes of dresses. I couldn't be happier with the outcome of my subtraction dress and think it looks great with my printed fabric showing. It is a good technique to use in pattern cutting and I will defiantly be using it in the future!!
