Technical Drawing

The final drawing that I completed was a technical drawing where no wrinkles or flaws in the fabric or construction were included, only essential details.

The technical drawing will be used for CAD (Computer Aided Design) where I will transfer the drawing onto illustrator which then can be taken into pattern cutting.

Fashion Sketches

After sketching ideas in my sketch book for different jacket ideas I used them to complete a final design. I took particular parts from certain jacket sketches that i liked and produced a final fashion sketch.

I decided on adding an oversized collar and cuffs with dropped shoulders. The back of the jacket design is where I have added the drapes which the jacket is based on. I have added a pocket to the right side of the jacket for detail and buttons on the side of both cuffs. Although I have decided on a jacket design I am still researching different materials for manufacture.

The second fashion sketch shows the jacket on a fashion sketched model to give a rough idea how it would look when it is worn.

Jacket sketches

These images which have been taken are from my working sketch book for my jacket design. Following on from the sketches of the drapes I then added more shape and started to produce different ideas and designs.

I looked through magazines and catwalk designers for inspirations as well continuing to progress my original draping ideas.

Taster Day

Draped ideas from a taster day for an oversized jacket. Inspiration was taken from different parts of the body then interpreted into different drape ideas and designs on a mannequin.

Each drape idea was produced in 30 seconds followed by a visual sketch of the drape which would then lead to quick fashion sketches.
